Your Full Name: Stephanie Vlahos
Last Name of the Person Who Discovered The Potential Sport: Vlahos
Have you submitted a sport before? And if so, what number would this submission be?: 1
Mutation Expression: Green on Green (GoG)
Color/Pattern Description: Sectored (Large sections of the leaves contain solid expressions of the mutation)
Striped (Several strips of the expressed mutation can be seen branching from the midrib)
Mottled (Overlapping mutations evenly expressed on top of one another)
Visible on internodes, Visible on petiole, Visible on midrib
Does your sport have any morphological properties that are consistent? Such as strange shaped leaves, odd textures, etc. If so, please describe:: n/a
Have you propagated this sport yet?: Yes
If so, how many successful propagations have you managed so far? And what were your primary methods?: I’ve made 5 successful propagations so far!! (6 plants with 8 active growth points) I always wait until I have either full roots in soil or an aerial root of 2” or more before using an xacto knife with clonex. I’ve rooted in soil primarily, but one is in 100% perlite.
Have you had any reversions? If so how many from your total propagation numbers?: None yet technically, although one of the props throws out 1-2 all green leaves before I see one with green on green.
When did the mutation occur?: Seedling stage
And lastly, what's the story? How did you discover this plant? Paint us a picture!: After months of unsuccessful sport hunting on my own, I saw Tyler offered his guide for free for a limited time. I downloaded it and dissected it thoroughly. Once that happened, it took just two weeks to hit the jackpot. I picked up the heaviest monstera pot, totally waterlogged, and saw the smallest leaf had some crazy dark green coloring.
I immediately set it aside, found the discord group, joined it, and asked what everyone thought in Discoveries. I saw some dark green on another larger leaf too. When Tyler immediately replied with “take that mamajama home” I tipped the pot to empty all the water, soaked my shoes, and checked out. It wasn’t until I made it home I realized EVERY SINGLE LEAF WAS VARIEGATED GREEN ON GREEN!!! I hosed down all the substrate and chopped it into 3 plants before reporting in my own soil mix. It’s been my pride and joy since. :)
